CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Irish Heritage was on full display Saturday night in Chicopee, as the city selected their next colleen.

The Chicopee Colleen Contest and Coronation Ball was once again this year’s largest organized contest in the city.

34 total contestants were narrowed down to one colleen and five court members.

These six ladies will represent Chicopee in this year’s Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

17 year old Chicopee Comprehensive High School student Kyleigh Morin was crowned colleen..

22News spoke to a past colleen about what makes the parade special. “We celebrate every culture and we’re so happy to have all the diversity that we have throughout the parade, throughout all the different cities. We’re happy we’re able to incorporate everybody and get together to celebrate Irish heritage,” said Kristen Hubert 2014 Chicopee Colleen.

This year’s 65th annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade is now less than a month away.

22News will have full coverage of this year’s parade, which starts 11AM March 20th.
