There’s excitement in Chicopee today with final preparations underway for The Great New England Air and Space Show at Westover Air Reserve Base.
Today Westover is giving us a first look at the some of the performers at this year’s air show.
More than 600 people came out this morning for the air shows kickoff breakfast at Westover Air Reserve base. The breakfast included speeches from past and current Air Force members as well as former astronaut and retired Air Force colonel Cady Coleman.
Immediately following the breakfast, Westover held a ceremony honoring the historic C5M super galaxy and officially naming the aircraft, the Spirit of Chicopee.
At 10 a.m the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team landed in front of a cheering crowd at Westover Air Reserve base. The Golden Knights and more than 20 other flying machines will be performing Saturday and Sunday.
Gates for the the air show open at 8 a.m. tomorrow with the flying performances beginning at 11 a.m.
