Springfield swore in three new firefighters Friday morning.
Fire Commissioner Bernard Calvi swore in firefighters Treyvontae Goodman, Thomas Murphy Junior and David Rivera.
Murphy became a third generation Springfield firefighter pinned by his grandfather, retired firefighter Michael Chicoine.
Fire Captain David Rivera did the honors for his Son David, an emotional moment in their lives.
“I’m proud of him, good kid, I’m happy as hell,” said Chicoine.
“Very proud to have a seconds generation firefighter, took me back 31 years to the day I got pinned,” said Captain Rivera.
Firefighters Goodman, Murphy and Rivera have been assigned to engine one at the fire department headquarters on Worthington Street.
