Three people are dead after a fire in Pittsfield Saturday morning.
According to Berkshire County DA Spokesperson Dennis Yusko, the Pittsfield Fire Department was called to a residence at the Lake Onota Village on Lakewood Drive Saturday morning at 3:40 a.m.
Yusko said three people died in the fire. Two other people escaped the fire and were taken to the Berkshire Medical Center with injuries not considered to be serious.
The home was heavily damaged and a nearby residence was also damaged in the fire.
According to the Berkshire DA, State Police and Pittsfield fire officials said the cause of the fire was a candle or “smoking material” in the master bedroom.
