PRINCETON, Mass. (WWLP) – State police are taking calls on their confidential tip line to try to get information leading to the killer of 27 year-old Vanessa Marcotte. The young New York City resident was found dead in the woods in the northern Worcester County town of Princeton Sunday night.
Marcotte was visiting her mother in Princeton at the time, and had gone out for a quick run Sunday afternoon.

At this time, police do not know whether Marcotte was a random victim, or whether she was targeted on purpose. The town’s police chief and Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. are telling nearby residents to remain on-guard.
Massachusetts State Police are now urging the public to come forward if they saw anything in the area of Brooks Station Road on Sunday.
“No tip is inconsequential or irrelevant; no matter what it is, please call the tip line, because it may be valuable to investigators seeking justice for Ms. Marcotte,” reads a posting on the official Massachusetts State Police Facebook page.
Marcotte grew up in nearby Leominster, and graduated from Boston University. In New York, she was working as an account executive for Google.
