Car fire on I-91 South in Northampton causes traffic backup


NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – All lanes of I-91 Southbound have reopened after a car fire Saturday.

I-91 Southbound, south of Exit 18 in Northampton was closed due to a car fire Saturday evening. 

Traffic was backed up for miles along I-91 Southbound after a 2009 Nissan Altima caught fire. 

One lane was reopened around 6 p.m. Sunday evening as crews worked on the fire. All lanes were reopened around 7:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
