Exit 10 off of I-91N in Springfield causing headaches for some drivers

22News is working for you with traffic trouble spots throughout western Massachusetts.

During the morning commute, the bottom of Exit 10 in Springfield, the Main Street exit, could be very dangerous because of the traffic backups it causes up onto the highway

It’s the exit you would take to get to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield if you are traveling on 91 North.

22News drove through the area on Monday morning, but it was President’s Day, so no school or work for many people. And the exit was a smooth ride with no traffic build up.

But this isn’t what exit 10 usually looks like on a weekday morning.

The traffic backups from the traffic light at the bottom of the exit all the way up onto the highway, and congests the right lane.

There are also cars merging onto 91 from the Exit 9 entrance ramp about a quarter mile down the highway, and it makes for a bottleneck situation.

This is a highly used exit because of its proximity to the hospital.
