Lane closure on I-91 in Whately due to fuel spill cleanup


Cleanup efforts are set to continue Friday, two days after a deadly tanker truck rollover on I-91 in Whately.

According to MassDOT, the right lane of I-91 northbound in Whately will be shut down for a majority of the day Friday as crews clean up the remainder of the fuel spill that resulted from the accident.

The right lane, as well as the breakdown lane, will be closed in the area of the crash between 9:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M.

On Wednesday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police say, Jody Crosby, 47, of Seymour, Connecticut, lost control of the fuel tanker he was driving. The truck went off the highway near the 33.4 mile marker and rolled over. Crosby died as a result of the accident.
