Scheduled lane closures on I-91 could impact your commute.
A rush hour lane closure on I-91 Southbound was scheduled to start Monday near exit six, but it’s been postponed until further notice.
Starting Tuesday at 7 a.m., MassDOT will close the left lane on I-91 Northbound at Exit 9. The lane closure is needed so crews can repair guard rails.
The work will take place Tuesday and Wednesday during the day. Traffic may be impacted, since the work is being performed from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon, during the busy morning commute.
One AAA driver told 22News, the work will make his job easier.
“It will definitely cut down on people getting flat tires,” said Jake Hart of Springfield. “People getting stuck on the highway. Make the commute a lot faster. I think it’s definitely a positive thing.”
Crews were supposed to repair light poles on I-91 Southbound, near Exit 6, but that work has been delayed until further notice.
22News will update you on when you can expect that work to take place on I-91 South.
