Daytime and overnight closures for the Memorial Bridge in Springfield began Monday.
According to MassDOT Spokesperson Patrick Marvin, the closures began Monday and will affect traffic going eastbound and westbound.
Marvin said the lane closures are allowing crews to safely and effectively complete concrete bridge deck repairs and a routine bridge inspection.
The closures will continue throughout the week.
The bridge carries traffic on Route 147 over the Connecticut River between Springfield and West Springfield.
MassDOT is encouraging drivers to be mindful of potential traffic impacts, reduce speed, and use caution when traveling through the area.
