HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Closures on I-391 North in Chicopee and Holyoke began Monday and will remain in place for the next few months.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is beginning bridge maintenance work and barrier installation on I-391 North at Exits 5/6. The highway will be closed north of Exit 5 through Wednesday. However, an additional closure at Exit 6 will begin on Thursday and last for several months.
22News spoke to Larry Katz, owner of Arnold’s Meats in Chicopee, about the potential impact the closures may have on business, “I hope not, but it might. And if it does, there’s not much I can do about it anyways, but there are other ways to get here which is good and before they had I-291, there were ways of getting here so I haven’t seen really that much disruption at all.”
Drivers should expect delays in the area and a detour in place.
