Driver airlifted after serious crash on I-91 in Bernardston

BERNARDSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – One person was removed from a car by the jaws of life after a serious crash on I-91 southbound in Bernardston near the Vermont border Friday morning.

MassDOT spokesperson Jacquelyn Goddard told 22News, the crash happened around 7 a.m. and the roadway was closed for the helicopter to come. One lane is now open on the southbound side.

According to the Greenfield Fire Department, the sole occupant of the vehicle was entrapped and needed to be removed from the car by the jaws of life. The driver was then taken to the hospital by helicopter.
