GILL, Mass. (WWLP) – Five people were hospitalized after a three vehicle crash on Route 2 in Gill Friday morning.

According to Gill Police Chief Christopher Redmond, officers were called to the accident around 8:42 a.m. on Route 2 near the intersection of Setback Lane.

A preliminary investigation found that one vehicle driving westbound had crossed over the center line into two oncoming vehicles in the eastbound lanes.

Five people were injured in the accident. All of the victims were able to get out of the vehicles themselves. Four of them were take to a nearby hospital and one was taken by helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

State Police assisted Gill Police with the accident. Police are still investigating the crash. Route 2 was reopened around 12:44 p.m. Friday afternoon.
