Repairs start Wednesday on the Air National Guard Bridge, which carries Route 20 over the Westfield River and Powder Mill Brook.
MassDOT’s repairing the bridge decking. This is the bridge near the Home Depot.
On Wednesday and Thursday, there will only be one lane of traffic going in each direction, from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
22News spoke with one Westfield resident on the impact the repairs will have on driver’s commutes.
“It’s definitely an inconvenience for people who are traveling that way. It’s definitely a heavily populated road, a lotta people travel that area,” said Andy Colon. “As long as the word is out and everybody plans accordingly, everything should be fine. But it is going down to one lane, so it might be a little slow.”
Signs and message boards will be guiding traffic through the work zone on Wednesday and Thursday.
