DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An alleged distracted driver crashed into a State Police cruiser Thursday afternoon on I-91 North, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, a State Police trooper was working with a street sweeper when he exited his vehicle to stop a distracted driver. The driver of the pick-up truck that hit the cruiser. No serious injuries were reported.
Photos shared by the State Police Union on Facebook show heavy damage to the front of the pickup truck and the rear of the State Police cruiser. Multiple witnesses told police they saw the driver on their cell phone. No charges have been announced yet for the driver.
