Two people seriously injured in Chicopee motorcycle accident


8/31 UPDATE: Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News the two people injured in the crash remain in the hospital Friday in stable condition.

Wilk said their preliminary investigation suggests that the car struck the motorcycle as it attempted to turn on Farmington Street from Syrek Street.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee’s accident reconstruction team is looking into the cause of a serious motorcycle crash near the South Hadley town line Thursday night.

Officer Mike Wilk of the Chicopee Police Department told 22News the motorcycle accident happened at Farmington and Syrek St. before 10 p.m.

Two people on the motorcycle were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries after the accident, Wilk told 22News. There is no word on their current condition.

As a result of the crash, lower James Street was closed from the South Hadley line to the top of James St. at Ross Avenue. Those roadways have since re-opened.
