(WYFF) Chase Culpepper, the transgender South Carolina teen forced to take off her makeup for a driver’s license photo, has settled her discrimination lawsuit with the state.
The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund announced the settlement during a news conference Wednesday morning.
“We’re very proud of what Chase has done to be able to affect the rights of gender nonconforming and transgender South Carolinians all over this state,” Ethan Rice, a staff attorney for TLDEF, said. “Everyone goes to the DMV in South Carolina, and everyone deserves to be treated equally.”
“Hopefully, this will inspire other transgender and gender nonconforming people to stand up for their rights as well and feel proud of themselves,” Culpepper added.
