Turtle protection program held in Agawam


Eversource employees and wildlife experts participated in a competitive turtle tracking program Thursday. 

A turtle-sniffing dog helped Eversource employees and wildlife experts find turtles living in or near electric transmission rights of way

Eversource is working with Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife to teach workers how to spot and protect turtles under the National Heritage Program. 

“It’s part of our environment communital stewardship committment to the environment and our own was of insuring that these endangered species at protected,” said Eversource employee Frank Poirot. 

If a utility employee finds a box turtle near transmission lines, Mass. Wildlife will help them relocate the endangered species to a safer place.
