Two car crash causes major traffic backup on South End Bridge

A minor car accident caused a major traffic backup on the South End bridge Saturday morning.

State Police Trooper Blanchard told 22News a two car accident closed the left lane of Route 5 to Route 57  in Agawam a little before 11 o’clock Saturday morning. Traffic was backed up to West Columbus Avenue in Springfield as a tow truck worked to move the car.

State Police added that weekend Six Flags traffic may have added to the delays. The accident was cleaned up in about an hour.

No one was injured but State Police at the crash told us one driver will be cited. The crash is currently under investigation.
