Veterans and their families enjoy a day fun with an Honor and Remember community event

The Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Honor and Remember organization set up a day of fun at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home Saturday afternoon.

Veterans and their families enjoyed a day filled with art, food and even horse-drawn carriage rides.

22News spoke with the Chapter Director of Honor and Remember who said Memorial Day Weekend isn’t just about remembering his fallen brothers and sisters, but it’s also about spreading joy and giving veterans the opportunity to share their stories.

“For us to come up here and get these guys out for the weekend. Horse rides, food, art…they love it. It brings a smile to our faces. A couple of veterans I’ve heard them say this is the best day they had so far being up here,” Chapter Director Brian Miller told 22News.

Honor and Remember will host its 5th annual Gold Star Run on June 23rd at the Waterfront Tavern in Holyoke.
