WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 68 year-old Westfield resident died after police say his car was broadsided in a crash on Route 20 Tuesday evening.

Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe told 22News that witnesses told police a driver ran a red light East Main and Delmont Streets, striking another vehicle that was turning into traffic.

McCabe said the driver of the vehicle that was struck, David Matyseck, was taken to Baystate Noble Hospital, where he died.

The driver of the car that hit Matyseck’s vehicle, 25 year-old Ryan Pasquini of Westfield, was arrested at the crash site.

Hampden District Attorney’s spokesman Jim Leydon said Pasquini was arraigned Wednesday in Westfield District Court.  He was charged with motor vehicle homicide, leaving the scene of personal injury accident, and negligent operation if a motor vehicle. Prosecutors requested a  $25,000 cash bond.

Pasquini was released on personal surety with restrictions.  Leydon said Pasquini was ordered not to drive, drink no alcohol, and is required to use a sobriety device.

The crash is being investigated by the Massachuestts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the Westfield Police Department.

The Westfield News reports that Pasquini is suspected to have been involved in a crash at Main and Meadow Streets shortly before the deadly crash on East Main Street.
