Westfield woman struck by car on Notre Dame Street Friday morning

A 71-year-old Westfield woman was struck by a car as she crossed Notre Dame Street to get to work Friday morning.

Westfield Police Captain Michael McCabe told 22News that the woman was struck in or near a crosswalk on Notre Dame Street at 6:40 a.m. Friday.

McCabe said she was on her way to work at Mestek on North Elm Street.  The operator, a Westfield man, stopped, called police, and stayed with the victim, according to McCabe.

The State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS) was called in to determine what led up to the accident.

A section of Notre Dame Street was closed for almost 3 hours Friday morning.

Capt. McCabe had no information on the victim’s condition Friday night.
