What are the hottest jobs for 2017? CareerBuilder study takes a look

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – If you are in the market for a new job, you could have some major luck during the new year.

CareerBuilder has compiled a list of some of the hottest jobs in 2017, which focus on analytics, product development, and sales.

Those best jobs are in fields including

  • Business/financial operations
  • Health care
  • Information technology
  • Sales
  • Skilled trades

CareerBuilder made the list by looking at three factors: jobs that made on average $20 per hour, have grown faster than the overall jobs market over the past four years, and have the most job openings. Some careers, like those in the skilled trades, may have more openings because of how they are perceived.

“People are typically underpaid in the trades, and people don’t want to do those jobs, so the question of whether we should funnel people into those jobs is, you know, do we want people to be underpaid in this industry or underpaid in another industry?” Charlotte McKane of Northampton said.

The industry with the highest increase in job opportunities over the last four years were information technology jobs, with a 12% increase.
