Woman injured after being hit by state trooper while crossing the street in East Boston

BOSTON (WWLP) – A woman was injured Saturday morning after she was hit by a state trooper in Boston.

According to State Police Spokesperson David Procopio, at approximately 5:30 a.m. a trooper was driving through the intersection of Bennington and Vienna Streets in East Boston when he hit a woman who was crossing the street. 

Procopio said at the time of the accident it had been raining and was dark. The 58-year-old woman was crossing the street to go to work when she was hit.  

The woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for an injury Procopio said is not believed to be serious.

The trooper was also taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for emotional distress. 

The accident is being investigated.
