Woman kidnapped, robbed in Pittsfield; police searching for suspect


PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One person has been arrested, and Pittsfield police are on the lookout for a second suspect, after a woman was kidnapped and robbed Wednesday morning.

According to Pittsfield Police Lieutenant Gary Traversa, the victim, a 52 year-old woman, told police that she was near the Coltsville Shopping District, when she was abducted by two men shortly before 7:30 that morning. She says that she was taken to Springside Park, where the suspects robbed her, before letting her go. The victim was not hurt in the incident.

Traversa says that police searched the area, and on Thursday afternoon, arrested 36 year-old Joseph Loftus of Pittsfield. He is being charged with kidnapping, masked armed robbery, and larceny over $250. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at Central Berkshire District Court in Pittsfield.
