A woman is in critical condition after she was found by Springfield firefighters Friday morning with third-degree burns.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger said firefighters were called to 6 Cornwall Street around 10:30 Friday morning.
When firefighters arrived, they found a 61-year-old woman in a basement bathroom with third-degree burns to her head, face, and torso. She was taken to Baystate Medical Center in critical condition, Leger said.
The bathroom has under $1,000 in damage. The Springfield Arson & Bomb Squad assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Troopers assigned to the State Fire Marshals Office are investigating.
