One person is dead and 14 others treated at area hospitals after an apparent mass drug overdose in a home in Chico, California.
Chico police say they were called to the home Saturday for what they called a “mass causality” incident.
“Upon arrival, Chico police officers found multiple individuals in what appeared to be life threatening overdose conditions. Officers began to both administer CPR and also Naloxone to those individuals. Chico police officers administered six doses of Naloxone during their response and those come in half doses. Unfortunately one male individual was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Of those hospitalized, two were police officers who reported feeling the effects of a drug similar to fentanyl.
Both have since been released from the hospital.
Authorities say four others are hospitalized in critical condition, while four others are in serious condition.
Police say those found in the home were all between the ages of 19 and 30.
