16-year-old working towards her Eagle rank


FOLSOM, Cali. (KCRA) – For the first time in over a century, the Boy Scouts of America has welcomed their first class of girls into the newly renamed Scouts BSA program.

Katherine Boggs, 16, of Folsom, California is one of those new members.

“It means so much to me,” she says. “I think that it’s an amazing opportunity for thousands and thousands of people, not only girls, but all across the nation to be able to have this opportunity and be able to give back to the community.”

Boggs comes from a long line of Scouts. Her grandfather, father and brother were all Scouts and even attained the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.

“So, I have to be another third-generation Eagle,” she says.
