A Father’s Voice: Prisoners connect with children

World

A South Carolina Department of Corrections program is helping inmates keep in touch with their children while they serve time behind bars.

13 inmates at Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia are participating in the program called “A Father’s Voice.” It purchases well-known children’s books with a device that records each dad reading the book to their children.

The Department of Corrections hopes the program will curb those kids’ odds of anxiety, depression and even dropping out of school.
