Amazon has announced will split its so-called “HQ2” headquarters between two locations, one in New York City and the other in Arlington, Virginia.
A third city, Nashville, will be home to a new operations center with 5,000 jobs.
The decision ends a year long beauty contest, with cities across North America courting the economic perks promised by Amazon.
Still, some critics are calling Amazon’s HQ2 selection the ultimate bait and switch, using the promise of a new headquarters to leverage tax incentives.
