Capsized captain survives 14 hours adrift

A North Carolina shrimp boat captain is speaking telling his tale of survival after spending some 14 hours floating in the Pamlico Sound.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued Kenny Rustick and William Grant Wednesday morning. The Mad Lady 2 capsized sometime Tuesday off Wysocking Bay in Hyde County.

Rustick says they were coming back into Engelhard to drop off their catch because the weather was deteriorating.

When their port-side stabilizer broke, Rustick says the boat began to lean, and took on water before completely overturning.

Both Rustick and Grant were able to escape, and clung to debris until the Coast Guard arrived the next day.
