Caught on Camera: Tollworker hit

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Florida Highway Patrol troopers have located the woman they say hit a toll booth worker while getting onto the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday when a woman, identified as 26-year-old Brittnie Kenyon, entered the toll plaza in her pickup truck on the Pinellas County side of the bridge.

Troopers say workers told her to stop so another toll worker could walk in the pedestrian crosswalk. Kenyon did not stay stopped and hit the 80-year-old woman, the FHP report says.

The collision knocked the toll booth worker to the ground. Elaine Wyman was later taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers say Kenyon initially stopped then took off, continuing south on I-275. After a brief search, they found her on Monday morning.

Kenyon was cited for driving with a suspended license and failing to provide information at a crash scene.

News Channel 8 reporter Ryan Hughes talked to Wyman off camera.

She said he’s doing well after being a bit banged up.

She plans to return to work Friday, she said.

“If you’re not paying attention to the road and texting, yeah, you should see someone,” driver Tom Broome said.
