SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – If you get a text from the President, do not be alarmed!

Personal emergency alerts from President Donald Trump are set to test on your smartphone next week, according to FEMA and the FCC.

You may already be familiar with the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system.

It alerts you with a loud tone of flood warnings or AMBER Alerts.

The new test will use the same premise.

The alert will reportedly come directly from the President in the event of natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and other significant events.

The test will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 20, according to FEMA.

FEMA said more than 100 mobile carriers are participating, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.

FEMA said the test will start around 11:18 a.m. PST and will last for about half an hour.

All phones that are on and within range of a cell tower should the receive the following message:

“THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is required.”

A header preceding the above message will read: “Presidential Alert.”

Another test is scheduled for Oct. 3 in case there is interference with the Sept. 20 test.
