Loralee Levesque, the owner of the studio, said she is beyond excited for 13 of her dancers to be featured in the annual parade.
“I think this is just their dream,” Levesque said. “Everyone growing up, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and you see the dancers and say, ‘I want to do this one day.’ I know I did.”
Levesque said her team was shocked when she announced their next performance would be in New York City during the biggest parade of the year.
“I announced Macy’s and they were beside themselves, they were so excited,” Levesque said.
“We were speechless, we didn’t know what to say,” Zachary Almeida, a member of the dance team, said.
The experience will be a family affair for many, including Levesque, who said her daughter, Desiree, is one of the dancers who will be in the parade.
“This is amazing for me, not only as a teacher but as a mother,” Levesque explained. “Everyone watches it everywhere. Everyone knows the parade… this is the biggest thing.”
“My mom is unbelievably excited for me, and also for herself because she gets to go,” Almeida added.
The dancers ages range from 14 to 17 years old. The team leaves Saturday for New York.
