An Orange City, Florida woman who’s been fighting to keep her emotional support pig is hopeful local officials are going to allow him to remain in her home.
Stacey Fox has a 200-pound pig named Hamlet. She got him two years ago when he was just a few months old and says he helps her manage her severe depression.
City laws don’t allow anyone in a single family home to keep swine on the property and recently, code enforcement told Fox she had two weeks to find Hamlet a new home.
Fox and her husband got to work and presented city officials with a large packet of documents that included notes from three different doctors confirming Hamlet is critical to managing Fox’s depression and bipolar disorder.
Fox says on the days she is struggling, Hamlet, who is litter-box trained, will lay in the bed with her and comfort her.
