Execution blocked after drug company files suit

The execution of a twice-convicted killer was officially called off Wednesday, just hours ahead of his scheduled lethal injection at a prison in Nevada. 

 A judge in Las Vegas ordered the delay of Scott Dozier’s execution after pharmaceutical company Alvogen filed suit against the state of Nevada Tuesday, claiming it acquired the drug Midazolam illegally, and that it is not approved by the f-d-a for use in executions.

 Nevada is required by law to use lethal injection for executions. 

 The state is expected to appeal.
