After two years and 71 million people using Facebook Marketplace, the platform used for buying and selling items is getting a makeover.
The site is implementing new features today that will make exchanges easier and safer.
“Today we’re actually announcing the ability to rate buyers and sellers and this just helps people make more informed decisions about who buying and selling to,” says Facebook Marketplace product lead, Stephanie Shum.
Facebook is hoping these measures will help prevent scams and they are planning on using the data from reporting tools and the new ratings to improve how they scan listings.
“We use artificial intelligence to determine whether the items and the people that are using marketplace are safe,” says Shum.
Facebook has also said that they are using artificial intelligence in the posting and browsing process.
