More than 600 pounds of raviolis recalled from local company

(WPRI) — A Providence company is recalling hundreds of pounds of frozen meat ravioli after they were produced without federal inspection, according to the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Safety Inspection Service.

The raviolis in question were produced and packaged by Venda Ravioli on various dates from Feb. 22 through June 7.

  • 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, MEAT RAVIOLI,” and a lot code and case code of 05318, 05418, 05518, 05618, 05718, 05818, and 05918.
  • 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, Italian Sausage Ravioli.”
  • 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, Prosciutto & Provolone Ravioli,” and a lot code and case code of 05318, 05418, 05518, 05618, 05718, 05818, and 05918. 
  • 16 oz. sealed trays of “VENDA RAVIOLI, PASTA FRESCA, COSTANTINO’S, OSSO BUCO RAVIOLI.”

The USDA said the Meat Ravioli and Prosciutto & Provolone products have an establishment number of “EST.9501.” inside the USDA mark of inspection, while the Italian Sausage Ravioli and Osso Buco Ravioli do not have a USDA mark of inspection.

The products were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered on June 7 while inspections were being performed on the products.

Currently, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products. The USDA said anyone who is concerned about a reaction should contact their healthcare provider.

The USDA is urging customers to not consumer the products. Those who have purchased the products can return them to the place of purchase or throw them away.
