Police: Man charged with trafficking fentanyl, heroin with child in car

(WPRI) — A Providence man was arrested in Massachusetts after police said they found heroin and fentanyl in his car while he was traveling with a child.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Nelson Gonzalez, 51, was driving on I-90 Eastbound in Auburn around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday when a trooper pulled him over for going 95 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Police said Gonzalez did not have a valid driver’s license.

Before the car was towed, the trooper found 544 grams of a suspected mixture of heroin and fentanyl and 35 grams of a suspected mixture of fentanyl and lactose.

Gonzalez was charged with trafficking fentanyl and heroin, child endangerment and other traffic-related charges.

Gonzalez was bailed on $50,000 and will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
