KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNT) — Two Wyandotte County Sheriff’s deputies have died following a shooting late Friday morning.

The Kansas City Police Department says the two deputies were transporting prisoners around 11:30 a.m. when they were “overcome” and were shot.

According to police, the two deputies were possibly shot with their own guns.

Officials identified the deputies that died in the shooting as Patrick Rohrer, 35, and Theresa King, 44.

Rohrer died shortly after the shooting Friday. King went to a nearby hospital and received treatment. Police say she died just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

King was a 13-year veteran of the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. Rohrer served for 7 years.
