TEXAS (WFLA) – A man is accused of biting off a piece of a police officer’s ear during a traffic stop in Texas Friday night.

Police said 45-year-old Christopher Michael Rogers was pulled over for driving under the influence in the town of Denton around 11 p.m.

Rogers ignored officers’ commands to exit his vehicle and resisted arrest when officers tried to force him out of the car, police said.

When officers finally got him out of the car and on the ground, police said he began biting one of the officers.

Police said the officer suffered injuries to his head and a portion of his ear had been bitten off. He is now recovering at home.

Rogers was arrested for resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.
