Trump: Border patrol “had to use” tear gas

President Donald Trump is defending tear-gassing migrants, including children, at the Mexico-United States border.

At a roundtable discussion in Mississippi Monday, Mr. Trump asked, “Why is a parent running up into an area where they know the tear gas is forming and it’s going to be formed and they were running up with a child?”

Later, at a rally, the president insisted without proof that the caravan is full of violent criminals.

“To the lawless caravans and to the illegal trespassers marching toward our border. It’s very simple, turn back now go back home. We will not let you in,” Mr. Trump said.

The president is threatening to shut down the government if congress doesn’t fund his border wall in the budget due next week.

Meanwhile, President Trump says he’s not happy about General Motors latest announcement that they’re shutting down five plants in the U.S. and Canada.

GM says it’s closing those plants in part because Americans are back to buying bigger cars, and not the small ones they’re making here.
