Trump’s prime-time address: Everything you need to know

As the partial government shutdown continues into its third week, the President addressed the nation in a prime-time speech from the Oval Office.

President Trump was on all major TV networks including 22News to discuss the subject of immigration.

The current government shutdown follows the Commander in Chief asking for nearly $ 6 billion to build a steel barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.

But Democrats are against it.

This stalemate has led to 800,000 federal employees going unpaid for their work for nearly three weeks.

During his address, the President said the federal government remains shut down for one reason and one reason only, and that’s because democrats will not fund border security.

The president said he might bypass Congress by declaring a national emergency over the border issue.

President Trump also said he would be meeting with congressional leaders at the White House Wednesday.

During that meeting the President plans to work on an agreement to end this shut down that has now entered day 19.
