(WAVY) The colorful “no cursing” signs along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront will soon be no more.
George Kotarides, president of the Atlantic Avenue Association, says the association has been working for months to ask the city to remove the signs.
“We felt like they were not very welcoming and a bit of an eyesore,” he says.
Kotarides believes they are not welcoming to visitors and do not influence people’s behavior.
“They agreed after a little while that the signs should come down so we’re really thankful for the city for doing that,” Kotarides says.
He wants to auction off the signs and use the money to improve the Atlantic Avenue area.
