Thousands of fans filled the parking lots at Gillette Stadium for the first Sunday of the NFL season.
One fan told 22News Gillette Stadium has a game day experience like no other.
“The tailgating, the vibe, I love getting all snuggled up in my ski gear to come to the Pats game, this is like my mecca,” said Jessica Rohrick.
Due to the Patriots recent success, Gillette has become the mecca of football in New England.
One patriots fan has been attending Pats games for the last 45 years. She recalls the days before Brady, Bellichick, and Kraft were household names in New England.
“I came to everyone of those blowouts, every one. I’ve seen them good and bad and now I want to go to a Super Bowl,” Barbara Rosen said.
Getting back to the Super Bowl won’t be easy, the Patriots will be without star wide receiver Julian Edelman for the first 4 games of the season.
However, fans told 22News they aren’t worried.
“Chris Hogan will pick up the slack, Gronk, they’re very deep they got so many options,” Joyce Black said.
One Patriots fan is confident in the team, “We have a lot of depth and it’s like next man up, and everyone is ready to come in and do their job when their time is called.”
