It’s the most exciting time of the year for football in Foxborough. The New England Patriots are playing the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium for the AFC Divisional Playoff Sunday afternoon.
Though the game is being played in Foxborough fans here in western Massachusetts are counting down the minutes till Sunday’s kickoff.
Danny Stone, from Northampton, told 22News, “There’s nothing better, everybody’s going to be huddled around the TV tomorrow at 1:00, no one’s going to be doing anything else. We’re all sitting rooting for our home team and it’s the best, best feeling in the world.”
Local businesses are preparing for the game as well. Rumbleseat Bar and Grill Owner William Stetson told 22News his staff will be doubled for Sunday’s game.
He said Patriots playoff football brings a special type of energy to the bar, “It’s a stop traffic type of entertainment for western Mass. We’re doing wing specials, half priced wings. I’ve been in this business for 16 years and there’s nothing like the New England Patriots and playoff football.”
The Pats will be playing a home playoff game for the 9th consecutive season.
Sunday begins the team’s playoff push for a 6th Super Bowl Championship.
