BOSTON (WWLP) – The Boston Bruins have jumped out to a one-game-to-none lead in the second round of the NHL Playoffs.
The Bruins beat the Blue Jackets 3-2 in overtime, after hanging on to an early lead for two periods. The Bruins started out aggressive and scored in the first period, that was the only goal for the first two periods.
Bruins fans are hungry to win this series because last year they were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round.
“Well, of course, we would love to win, I mean, I’m spoiled, we win championships all the time, so it’s almost like just second nature now so, hopefully, you know, I’m excited, I’m here,” said Carlo Giannone of Tewksbury, MA.
The Blue Jackets picked up two goals seconds apart in the third period to take the lead. Charlie Coyle then came up big time to hit the tying goal late in the third period.
But the Bruins would not be denied, scoring the winning goal in OT, winning game one of the second round, 3-2.
Game 2 will be played Saturday night at the TD Garden. The puck drops at 8 p.m.
