AIC women’s volleyball team welcomes special new recruit

Seventeen-year-old Madasyn Wurm became an official member of the American International College women’s volleyball team Friday night.

Wurm was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a neurological disease that affects mainly girls, in 2005.

She joins the team in conjunction with Team IMPACT, a nonprofit that connects children facing chronic illness with college athletic teams.

“It gives them an opportunity just to forget and be a kid again and enjoy something bigger than themselves and be apart of a team and be apart of the community,” Matthew Cribbin, coach of the team told 22News.

Wurm signed an official letter of intent and will attend all Yellow Jackets practices and games.

She will also receive her very own jersey.
