Jimmy Blewett started racing this season for Bertuccio Motorsports. The team headed down to Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway. Blewett told 22News that the chemistry has been great.
“Everybody has been on the same page since we’ve started off. Me and Joe (Bertuccio) both got nervous thought we but heads with a few things. Haven’t showed any sign or any reason why too. We all kind of think the same way. When you have that with a team we have. I have a lot of years doing it. Joe (Bertuccio) got a lot of years doing it. Just everybody on the team has been around for so long. Used to kind of doing things the old school way,” said Blewett.
Blewett was taught to do things the old school way with his race cars. Blewett feels he fits right in as kind of the piece of the puzzle with these guys.
Blewett and the team went to Florida with high expectations.
“We did what we planned on or maybe a little bit better. Three third (third-place finishes) Two second-place finishes and the way to start off the tour season the way we are right now and were running with these guys passing them,” said Blewett.
Blewett believes the speed is there and the team morale is up. Blewett and the team has a lot of energy going into these races and a lot of momentum. Blewett believes with how things are going and the way the team approaches everything and a little good luck on their side. They should be in full contention to win races.
Blewett said the plan is to run the full season and try to make a run at the points.
The NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will take place this weekend at Stafford Motor Speedway with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour going 200 laps. The race is planning to go off at approximately 3:30 p.m. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will practice and qualify on Saturday.
