SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Bruins now have a 1-0 series lead after defeating the Colombus Blue Jackets in overtime Thursday night.

Bruins fans across the state are celebrating the exciting game 1 overtime win. The team held onto an early lead for two periods until Columbus picked up two goals only 13 seconds apart in the third to take the lead.

But Charlie Coyle came to the rescue and scored a late in the third period to send the game into overtime.

It was Coyle again who scored the game-winning goal that sent Bruins fans over the top. Fans who watched the game back here in Western Massachusetts recall their favorite highlights from the game.

One fan, Tom Aurigemma, told 22News, “Tremendous resiliency on behalf of the Bruins. Two goals, 13 seconds apart they came back and tied it and won it in overtime.”

Game two will be played Saturday night in Boston.

The puck drops Saturday at 8 p.m.
